Samuel "Sam" Remington Brooks,Jr. age 83, of Topeka, passed away March 5, 2018. Samuel was born July 6, 1934 in Natoma, Kansas to Samuel and Agnes (Spacek) Brooks. He graduated from Silver Lake High School. He was employed for more than 35 years with Colmery O'Neil Veterans Medical Center retiring in 1987.

He served as a past president of the VA Credit Union board. He was also a past president of the Kansas Round Dance Assoc., was a round dance cuer, a leader of Flip Sides round dance club, and danced with many square dance clubs in the Topeka area.
Samuel was a member of Grace Episcopal Cathedral and when his son was growing up, he was active in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.

He married Wilma Zeller at Lyndon, Kansas on May 8, 1959. He always wanted to write and authored four books after his retirement while living in Arizona.

Sam is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Wilma; three grandchildren: Chrystal Brooks (Nick Savoca), Christopher Brooks, and Amanda Shaw (John); great-grandchildren: Josiah, Lynsey, Cyla, Cooper, Remington, and Jay; daughters-in-law: Lianne Brooks and Cindy Cox; two sisters: Dorothy David (Maynard), Edmond, OK, Marcia Anderson (Hap), Silver Lake, KS; and his sisters-in-law: Kay Brooks, Clara Zeller and Joye Cook.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Samuel Remington Brooks III, his sister, Mildred and his brothers, George and Larry.

A Memorial service will be held at Grace Episcopal Cathedral on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.
