1939 - 2018

Edward "Ed" Hartegan, 78, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Midland Care.

He was born on June 11, 1939 in Kansas City, KS to George and Doris Hartegan.

Ed married Judy Dillon. They later divorced. He married Judy Hartegan on September 8, 1972 in Overland Park, KS. She survives. Other survivors include a brother, Gary (Carol) Hartegan; children, Steve Hartegan (Phyllis), Debbie Newton (Bob), Brian Hartegan (Lea Ann); five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; as well as numerous extended family members.

Ed enjoyed cars, attending car shows, and spending time with friends and family. In his younger years he and Judy enjoyed square dancing, camping, canoeing, and snow skiing. Ed was proud to be a part of an award winning BBQ team.

A Knights of Columbus rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018 at Dove Cremations & Funerals Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd. The family will host a reception following the rosary until 8:00 p.m.

A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 3601 SW 17th Street, Topeka, KS 66604. Inurnment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Resurrection Cemetery, 83rd St & Quivera Rd, Lenexa, KS.
