Dora Jean Coyan, 86, Topeka, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018 at a local hospital.

Dora was born July 25, 1931 in Cherokee, KS the daughter of Alexander and Georgia (Hartman) Nevin. She graduated from Crawford County High School.

She was employed at Newman’s Clothing in Emporia and several retail clothing stores in Ponca City, OK.

She was a Boy Scout & Girl Scout leader, past President of Village School Board in Emporia, Parent-Teachers Association, and a former member of the Emporia State Faculty Wives.

Dora married Robert Coyan on December 21, 1973 in Emporia. He survives. Other survivors include sons, Michael L. Bruyr, David L. Bruyr, Robert L. Coyan, Jr.; daughters, Vicki S. Hufford, Teressa J. Roach; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Belinda A. McGovern; and all of her siblings.

Per Dora's wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are scheduled. Private inurnment will be in the Kansas Veteran's Cemetery at Ft. Riley.
