Charles Thomas Owens, 48, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018.
He was born November 29, 1969, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of David and Shirley (Hobbs) Griffin. He was a 1988 graduate of Richland County High School in Columbia, South Carolina. He served in the U.S. Marines.

Charles married Wendi Peterson in 1994. They later divorced. Survivors include a son, Mason Owens, Oxford,WI; his mother, Shirley (Robert) Griffin, LeHigh Acres, FL; his father, David (Tracy) Owens, Ely, IA; and his maternal grandfather, Jesse Hobbs, Horton, KS.

Charles was a simple, easy going guy who loved scratch off lottery tickets! He also enjoyed fishing and being with his friends.

Charles was cremated. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 16, 2018 at the All Faiths Chapel at the Colmery-O'Neil VA Medical Center, 2200 SW Gage Blvd, Topeka, KS 66622. Dove Southwest Chapel is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, National Processing Center, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
