Jennifer Goldsmith Ho
1958 - 2018

Jennifer Goldsmith Ho, 59, of Topeka, Kansas passed away on Friday, March 30, 2018. Visitation with family will be held at Dove Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road, Topeka, KS 66610 on Thursday, April 5, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 6, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church at 817 SW Harrison Street, Topeka, KS 66612. A reception for family and friends will follow at the church. Private family interment will follow at Johnson County Memorial Gardens at 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210.

Jennifer was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on December 10, 1958, to Earl David and Wilma Jean Goldsmith. Jennifer married Samuel Y. Ho, MD on May 12, 1984. Sam and Jennifer had three children. They later divorced.

Jennifer grew up in Tulsa, Wichita, and Overland Park - where she graduated from Shawnee Mission South. She decided to be a CPA in kindergarten, perhaps influenced by her CPA father's use of a hand crank adding machine. Jennifer graduated from Kansas State University, with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in December 1980. She attained her CPA designation. She held her permit to practice as a CPA in the state of Kansas and was a member of the AICPA and Kansas Society of CPAs.

Jennifer began her career with Arthur Andersen & Co and later worked for Menorah Medical Center and Charter Hospital of Overland Park. Jennifer took 16 years off from her career to work as a stay-at-home mom to Allison, Sam, and Sydney. While she was born to be an accountant and always loved her work, the opportunity to be a stay-at-home mom was the absolute joy of her life. Jennifer later returned to the workforce working at Security Benefit; Mize, Houser & Company; Payless ShoeSource; PTMW, Inc.; and Southwest Publishing and Mailing.

Jennifer was an active community volunteer wherever she lived, perhaps influenced by her mother's love for volunteerism during her childhood. Organizations which she served include Pioneer Chapter of the American Red Cross (Coffeyville, KS); Coffeyville Community College Foundation; Southeast Elementary School PTA (Kansas City, MO); Shawnee County Medical Society Alliance; Jay Shideler Elementary School Partners in Education; Boy Scout Troop 175; Washburn Rural High School Booster Club; Heartland Presbyterian Center; and First Presbyterian Church, where she was ordained as an Elder and served as a Deacon at her passing.
Jennifer is preceded in death by her father, Earl D. Goldsmith of The Woodlands, TX and stepfather, Robert L. Fisher, of Olathe, KS.

Jennifer is survived by her mother, Jean Fisher of Mankato, MN; her stepmother, Donna Goldsmith of The Woodlands, TX; her former husband, Samuel Y. Ho, MD of Topeka; one sister, Linda McBeth (Jeff) of Mankato, MN; two stepsisters, Julie Grantham of DeSoto, KS and Jana McCarver (Paul) of Spring, TX; three children, Allison Groenewold Ho, MD (Justin Ethen Triplett Groenewold, MD) of St. Paul, MN, Samuel Y. Ho, Jr. of Chicago and Sydney Elizabeth Ho of Topeka; and nine nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 817 SW Harrison Street, Topeka, KS 66612.
