Susalee “Susie” (Boswell) Gibson, age 72, passed away peacefully after a 5 year battle with cancer at Midland Care Hospice in Topeka, KS on May 06, 2018. She was in the company of her husband Gerald and daughters, Angela Gomez and Amy Ghere. Sue was born September 3, 1945 in Leon, IA. She was the 5th child and only daughter of Rufus and Vava (Hatcher) Boswell. She attended Elementary and High School in Lamoni, IA, graduating in 1964. After high school, she briefly pursued a career as a flight attendant.

Sue married Burton D. Hutchcroft of Lamoni, IA on March 31, 1968. They had 2 children, Bert Todd and Angela Paige. She was a dedicated housewife and mother. The family relocated multiple times to Illinois, Louisana, Oklahoma, and Kansas during their 16 year marriage. Throughout the multiple moves, Sue enjoyed making new friends, learning about other cultures and entertaining. Everyone was welcome in her home. She was well liked and had a great sense of humor. Sue took pride in her household and the raising of her children. Sue had a special connection to Native American Culture. She was an avid collector of Native American artifacts and artwork.

In April 1985, Sue married Gerald Gibson in Dodge City, KS. They moved to El Dorado, KS in 1985 with her new blended family. There she gained a love of boating and watching the kids grow up on the lake. Her love for boating and entertaining continued annually with family gatherings on Lake Melvern. In 1987, Sue and Gerald made their permanent residence in Topeka, KS. Sue looked forward to the getaways in their RV and being surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She took joy in preparing meals and making sure everyone was well fed and taken care of. One of her greatest joys was being able to participate in the caring of her grandchildren.

Sue is survived by her husband Gerald of 33 years; her sons: Bert Todd Hutchcroft (Luci), Gerald Ray Gibson (Holly); daughters: Angela Paige Gomez (Martin), Amy Gail Ghere (Tom); 7 grandchildren, Danielle Ghere, Madison Gomez, Chance Ghere, Walker Gibson, Mason Gibson, Nathan Gomez and Gavin Gomez; 2 great-grandchildren, Jalen and Liliana; and her brother Donald Boswell.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Cir. Topeka, KS 66606. A celebration of Sue's life will be held June 30, 2018 at her residence from 1-3PM.
