Dr. William D. “Bill” Wagaman, 78, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2018.

He was born on May 23, 1940 in Ames, Iowa. He is the son of Nelson and Jeanne Wagaman, formerly of both Ames and Cedar Rapids Iowa.

A reception will begin at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, August 11, 2018 at the Dove Cremations & Funerals, Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road, followed by services at 10:30 a.m. Private family interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

"Bill" enjoyed his family, his children, yard work, gardening, golf, and family vacations in Estes Park, Colorado. He loved children and public education. He was a teacher, administrator, and elementary school principal for 35 years in the Topeka Public Schools USD 501. He received his BA and MA from Washburn University of Topeka and his PHD from Columbia Pacific University.

He married Marianne Chance in Ames, Iowa on June 3, 1962. They had two children. Survivors include Marianne, son Jeff and granddaughter Lindsey, daughter Wendy (Mike) and grandson Chance (Kassidy) Montgomery. His devoted sister Julie Nelson (Jeff) resides in Marion, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association, 5375 SW 7th, Topeka, KS 66606 or the Topeka Public Schools Foundation, 624 SW 24th St., Topeka, KS, 66616.
