James D. Hobart, 57, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, August 3, 2018 at his residence. He was born May 24, 1961 in Chanute, Kansas, the son of James Lee and Judy (Zimmerman) Hobart.

James graduated from Shawnee Heights High School in 1979 and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology in 1984 from Ozark Bible College in Joplin, Missouri. He was employed as a concrete finisher. He was a member of the Town & Country Christian Church.

Survivors include his daughter, Lauren Hobart of Overland Park, Kansas, mother, Judy Schroeder of Topeka and his siblings, Carolyn Sandmeyer of Topeka and Paula (Todd) Lowe of Oskaloosa.

James was preceded in death by his father, James Lee Hobart in 1986 and his step-father, David Schroeder in 2007.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. Burial will follow in Emmanuel Cemetery southeast of Topeka. James will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 7: 00 p.m. Monday, August 6, 2018 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Town & Country Christian Church, 4925 SW 29th St., Topeka, Kansas 66614 or to Great Lakes Hospice Care, 3715 SW 29th St., Ste. 100, Topeka, Kansas 66614.
