Shirley Ann was born October 9, 1921, in Yates Center, Kansas the daughter of Ray and Neva Stoll. She was the second of four children and was preceded in death by her parents, sister Eileen Moore, brothers Alan Stoll and Laurence Stoll.

After graduating from Yates Center High, she met and married Royal Elder. They were married for 73 years, Royal passed away on May 6, 2015. Shirley was a devoted wife and homemaker. She and Royal had three sons that all survive, Stephen (Julie) Elder of Topeka, David (Carole) Elder of Jonesboro, Ar. and Kelley Elder of Owensboro, Ky.

She and Royal made several moves during their life together because of Royal’s career with the Kansas Fish and Game. Over the years they lived in Yates Center, KS., Manhattan, Ks and Pratt, Ks. The last few years they lived in Topeka at the Presbyterian Manor.

In addition to her children, she will be missed by her five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Jacob (Amber) Elder and their children, Emily and Audree; Shannon Clark and her children Brianna and Gavin; Katie (Mitch) Janick; Shay Elder; and Megan Jones and her son, Isaiah.

Shirley had a deep faith in God and knew that on her passing she would be in Heaven with Jesus.

Cremation is planned. A memorial ceremony will be held at 11:00 A.M. on October 13th in the Jellison Chapel at the Presbyterian Manor, 4712 SW 6th, Topeka, Ks.

Memorial contributions maybe made to the “Good Samaritan Fund” at the Presbyterian Manor.
