Donald L. Herrick, 79, of Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2018. He was born April 6, 1939 in Emmett, Idaho, the son of Ralph E. and Myrtle M. (Day) Herrick.

In 1960 Mr. Herrick was graduated magna cum laude with an A.B. degree in philosophy from William Jewell College. While at William Jewell he was student body president and won national distinction in debate and forensics. During the 60's he served as a reservist in the United States Army.

At age 55, Mr. Herrick had a profound encounter with the living God in which he submitted his life to Jesus Christ. He served as senior pastor of the Highland Park Baptist Church for the past 14 years.

In 1964, Mr. Herrick married Muriel Davies of West Hartford, Connecticut. To this union were born David Philip Herrick of Plano, Texas and Nancy Lynn Herrick of Tucson, Arizona.

In 2004 he married Deborah J. Graves, who had two children, Serah McBride (Todd) of Topeka and Richard Benjamin Graves (Kristi) of Buford, Georgia. The Herrick’s have three grandchildren: Alan, William and Horizon.

Also surviving is one sister, Janice K. Hedberg (Steve Boyce) of Topeka.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the Highland Park Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Topeka Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Friday, November 9, 2018 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Highland Park Baptist Church, 820 SE 29th St., Topeka, Kansas 66605.
