Ronald L. Smith, 75, of Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2018. He was born August 5, 1943 in Garnett, Kansas, the son of Claude L. and Mary (Henderson) Smith.

Ron graduated from Garnett High School. He was employed by the State of Kansas for most of his life before retiring and later did consulting work for a company in Wichita. He was a member of the Kansas Bow Hunters Association where he served as President and as editor of their magazine publication.

Ron married Phyllis A. Calahan on October 6, 1963 in Garnett, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Scott L. Smith of Austin, Texas, Troy L. Smith of Durham, Maine, five grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and his sister, Connie Hafenstine of Topeka.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 10, 2018 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Graveside services will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Garnett Cemetery, Garnett, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Kansas Bow Hunters Youth Scholarship Fund, 11301 W. Lost Creek Circle, Wichita, Kansas 67212.
