Joseph L. “Joe” McMillan, 92, of Topeka, passed away Monday, January 21, 2019.

He was born February 23, 1926, in Peoria, Illinois, the son of Daniel and Mamie (Voehl) McMillan. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II.

Joe was employed by Fleming Foods in Topeka for over 25 years until retiring.

He was a member of First Assembly of God Church, Topeka.

Joe married Lenora Jean (Johnston) Dunekack in 1977 in Topeka. She preceded him in death on March 23, 2012. Survivors include a step-son, Vernon L. (Devona) Dunekack, Jr., Topeka; step-daughter, Sharon (JC) Morgan, Lee’s Summit, MO and Laura (Chuck) Ritter, Kansas City, MO; four step-grandchildren, Will Dunekack, Mary Palma, both of Topeka, Tim Ritter and Matt Ritter, both of Kansas City, MO; eight great-grandchildren, Lindsay, Zoe, Olivia, Ava, Dino and Jager, all of Topeka and Ellie and Macy, Kansas City, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings.

Joe loved spending time with his family, and traveling with his wife, Lenora, especially traveling the “skinny roads”. He also attended various events, garage sales and rebuilt bicycles as a hobby.

A memorial ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 26, 2019 at the Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka.
