In Memory Of
John Lyman Randall
1940 - 2019

A native son of Western Kansas, John Lyman Randall, passed on February 12, 2019. John was born April 25, 1940 to school-teacher parents, Harold Randall and Josephine (Sire) Randall. John spent his formative years with family and friends in Colby, Kansas. In the Autumn of 1958 he entered the University of Kansas where he graduated with a Bachelors and later Masters degree in Mathematics, through the School of Education.

He began his teaching career in Shawnee Mission, Kansas and later moved to the school system of Montgomery County, Maryland. In 2000, John returned to rural Kansas, making his home in Mankato, Kansas. John loved the rhythms of a rural community. The Spring planting of grains and gourds, Summer harvest of tall corn and golden wheat, Fall county fairs and festivals and Winter renewal of the fertile soil.

John enjoyed eating at the Community Senior Center with his many friends where he talked about K. U. Basketball and listened about K-State Football.

John is survived by his former wife, Martha Randall, Silver Springs, Maryland; his son John Everett Randall (Brenna), granddaughters Courtney and Kelly and grandson Lee, Bozeman, Montana; his sister, Joanne Kensinger (Clyde) Topeka, Kansas; and uncle Alva Sire (Rosa) Colorado Springs, Colorado and aunt Eva Lou Selby, Brewster, Kansas.

The family invites you to join them for a celebration of John’s life, Sunday, March 17th, at the Community Senior Center from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M.
