Joey Jay "Hammer" McKinsey, 57, of Emporia, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2019.
He was born December 21, 1961, in Onaga, Kansas, the son of P.J. McKinsey and Lois (Iams) Cain. He was a graduate of Northern Heights High School.
Joey was a member of the Construction Union Local No. 1290, leaving in 2018 due to medical issues.
Joey's survivors include three children, Jody L. McKinsey of Greenwood County and her children, Journey, Jaitlyn, and Joselyn; Joshua J. McKinsey of Lyon County and his daughter, Audrina; and Joey J. McKinsey II of Oklahoma; and four siblings, Randy Knight of Topeka, Joyce Phillips of Emporia, Tony McKinsey of Lawrence and Rex McKinsey of Emporia.
He was preceded in death by his father, P.J. McKinsey and his mother, Lois Marie Iams (Cain).
Joey enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed river fishing, disc golf and was an avid Chevy truck lover.
Cremation is planned. A memorial ceremony will be held at a later date.
