John Lee Thomas, 70, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2019 at a Topeka hospital. He was born March 4, 1949 in Noxville County, Mississippi, the son of Eris and Lula Mae Thomas, Sr.

John was employed by M. Katch & Company for over forty years.

Survivors include Sharon Whetstone of Topeka, children, LaTanya (Christopher) Moore, Corey (Windi) Thomas, Sr.,Chris Cowan, III, Jon-Todd Thomas, Eric Whetstone, Megan Whetstone, Samara Buckner-Thomas and Durrell (Stacie) Thomas, Sr., all of Topeka, 36 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and his siblings, Pinky Tate, Aretha Dowd, Masker (Doris) Thomas, Willie Mae Hughes, Jessie (Debbie) Thomas and Lillie Pearl Hopkins, his best friend, Coy and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

John was preceded in death by one son, Larry James Thomas and one brother, Eris Thomas, Jr.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 2, 2019 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. Thursday, August 1, 2019 at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the service and private inurnment will take place at a later date.
