Marie Carolina Ortiz, 80, of Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at a Topeka hospital. She was born June 15, 1939 in Nuevo Laredo Tamaulipas, Mexico, the daughter of Eduardo and Maria Diaz Delatorre.
Marie graduated in Northern California and attended college in Compton, California. She was an ESL Teacher in San Bernardino, California and Topeka. She had resided in Topeka since 1992.
Marie married Richard R. Ortiz on January 20, 1962. He survives. Other survivors include two children, Eddy Ortiz of Greeley, Colorado, Guy Ortiz of Topeka, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and her sister, Judy DeRusse of Downey, California.
Cremation has taken place and as per Marie's wishes, no memorial services are planned. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
Dove Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd. is assisting the family.
