Paul Allen Joseph Martell
1976 - 2019

Paul Allen Joseph Martell, 42, of Gardner, Kansas, formerly of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Midland Hospice House after a long battle with lung cancer. He was born November 14, 1976 in Topeka, the son of Steven and Susan (Houck) Reeves. He was later adopted by Ronald Martell.

Paul grew up in St. Marys, attending St. Marys Grade School, St. Marys High School and later earned his G.E.D. in 1998.

Paul worked hard after high school, most as an electrician for 11 years before being diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer in March, 2016. He then worked part time as an electrician with The Modus Group until his final days. He didn't know a stranger and there wasn't anything he wouldn't do for anyone in need.

His love for life was only rivaled by his love for sports. Paul played many sports; golf, track, cross country, baseball, bowling, basketball, softball, billiards, darts, football and fishing.

Paul married Teresa Kenney on July 2, 2011 at Alma, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include his daughters, Kaylee and Marissa and his step-sons, Chance and Seth Kenney. Also surviving are his mother, Susan (Dwight) Fox of Alma, father, Ronald Martell of St. Marys, two brothers, Eric (Suzanne) Martell of Topeka, Jason (Katie) Martell of Hoyt, Kevin (Tonya) Fox of Whitewater; his sister, Jennifer (Matt) Booth of Wamego, nieces, Jolynn, Taylor, Lexy, Samantha; and nephews, Ethan, Benjamin, Samual, Thayn, Kysen, Evan and Justin.

Paul was preceded in death by his biological father, Steven and his paternal grandparents.

A Celebration of Paul's Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Dove Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd. Burial will follow in Prairie Home Cemetery. The family encourages those attending to wear KU attire or colors.

Paul will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. Friday, October 4, 2019 at the funeral home.
