Allen Dean Walter, 81, Topeka, passed away Monday, October 7, 2019.

Allen was born April 4, 1938 in Pittsburg, the son of Charles A. and Ruby G. (Sanders) Walter.

He joined the Navy at the age of 17 and served in Korea. After leaving the Navy he joined the Army Reserves and retired as a Master Sergeant.

Allen was a hard worker, put himself through college and graduated from Pittsburg State University all while working full time and raising three boys. He retired as a multi-occupation/shop teacher.

Survivors include son, Forrest Allen (Tammy Bergeson) Walter, Jeffery Dean Walter, Daniel Arthur (Mary Lewis) Walter; considered his own, David Galindo, Matt & Mark Galindo and Pete Galindo; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Bess Martin; and his high school sweetheart and life partner, Myrna Loy Galindo, who died on February 17, 2018. They enjoyed many years of retirement in Oregon until they returned to Kansas to be close to their children and grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place and no services are scheduled at this time.
