Lois was born in Bloomington, Kansas, August 4, 1922 to Alfred R. and Rosetta Neuschwanger Schrader. The family moved to Topeka where Lois attended Decker Grade School and graduated from Highland Park High School in 1940.
She married Arthur H. (Bud) Burgess on October 11, 1940. They moved to San Diego in 1941 and lived there until Bud was drafted into the Navy in 1944. They lived in Berkeley, California while Bud was stationed at the Alameda Air Station.
They bought a farm in Aurora, Missouri in May of 1946 and lived there until 1993. While in Aurora, Bud and Lois managed the Aurora Housing Authority Apartments for 9 years. They also opened a Tax Preparation Business in 1976 and operated it until 1993.
Lois is survived by her 2 nieces, Sandi (Ed) Humston and Patricia Rosebaum and a nephew, Lanny (Julie) McMahan all of the Topeka area, along with 4 other nieces and 3 nephews.
A visitation will held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 16, 2019 followed by a 11:00 a.m. funeral ceremony at Central Church of Christ, Topeka, KS. Memorial contributions can be made in her name to Central Church of Christ or to Elara Caring.
