Steven Dale McClain, 64, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2019.

Steve was born August 8, 1955, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Jack and Charlene McClain.

Steve graduated from Santa Fe Trail High School and he attended Washburn University. He served in the United States Army from March 3, 1975 until being honorably discharged March 2, 1979, receiving the declarations of Parachute Badge, Expert Badge M-16 and Expert Infantryman Badge.

Steve was employed by Hills Pet Nutrition for 30 years, retiring in 2015. He played men’s league baseball for the Bandits Team of Topeka.

Steve married Sherry Sisco on June 14, 1989 in Lyndon, KS.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry of the home; six children, Stacie Hinck of Lyndon, KS, Justin (Tracee) Miller of Topeka, KS, Heather (Mike) Munoz of Topeka, KS, Kellie Miller of Vassar, KS, Lessa (Dusty) Crouch of Topeka, KS and Laura (Dash) Hansen of Topeka, KS; eleven grandchildren, Kelsie and Shawn Hinck, Eli Fagan, Ryin and Cody Miller, Jayce Munoz, Shelbie and Madie McCain, Daegan and Addy Crouch, and Dezmon Hansen; his mother, Charlene McClain of Carbondale, KS; three brothers, Kevin, Stewart and Troy McClain and his fur baby Josie.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Steve enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren, baseball, golf, wood working, gardening, fishing, smoking meats and beer brewing. He was a big Green Bay Packers fan.

Honoring Steve’s request, cremation is planned. A graveside memorial ceremony will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, November 25, 2019 at Carbondale Cemetery. Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel is assisting the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1315 SW Arrowhead Road, Topeka, KS 66614.
