1950 - 2019

William A. “Chief” Kerlin, 69, of Topeka, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2019 at a Topeka hospital. He was born January 31, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois where he spent most of his life.

William was a Marine Corps Veteran, serving three tours during the Vietnam War and earned a Purple Heart and Navy Cross. He was a Steel Worker. He was a member of the DAV.

William was a wonderful person and didn’t know a stranger. He had a big heart and would give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it.

Survivors include his caregivers, Ethan and Loretta Kappler of Topeka and friends, Jensena, Rhoda, Tomas and Joshua all of Topeka.

Inurnment services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2020 at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas where Military Honors will be provided by a U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard Detail.

Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. is assisting the family.
