I met Gerald while teaching at HP. He was a good man who really cared about his students. He also enjoyed watching HP bb games. I'm sure he will be missed. Jim

I was very saddened to read of the passing of Gerald "Jerry" Toledo. I first met Jerry in the late 1970s through some friends who lived in Oakland, and I moved away from Topeka in 1984 for graduate school. When I read the notice of his passing, I remembered him very clearly. He was always kind, thoughtful, and respectful. A true gentleman. I was delighted to read that he had gone on to become a teacher. I am sure that countless students were recipients of his best qualities. Peace be with you at the sorrowful time.

Ramona, so sorry for your loss. Whenever I would see Jerry at any of the Highland Park games, he was always so friendly and greeted me with a smile. Prayers to all of you.

To Iron's family and friends; please accept Elena's and my deepest heartfelt thoughts, prayers and condolences on his passing.
Growing up with Cousin Gene and his crew, Iron, Muggs, Musky, Antonio, Ruggy, RB and Peter was an adventure that I looked forward every chance I had!!!
One by one the crew grew up went their way or passed on. One constant was Iron!!
He certainly will be missed and he will be remembered in the memories of all that knew him.
Thank you for your service, Sir!
Rest In Peace, Iron.

I didn’t know Iron personally, but I speak for my brothers. Two of them welcomed him home in Heaven. Ricky and Jojo (deceased) and Mike and Alfred hung out with Iron as kids. Rest In Peace.

I was very saddened to hear of Gerry's passing. We worked together for many years at Highland Park High School. He faithfully supported students through his sponsorship of the Hispanic Club. He organized and supervised many activities -- from food sales to Cinco de Mayo assemblies and school dances. He will truly be missed. My condolences to the family and loved ones. We are grateful for the wonderful memories he has left as his legacy in Topeka Public Schools.

Mike and family verry sorry to hear about Gerry. I would still run into him at the store and share a laugh. I was proud that he was teaching and know he was a good teacher. We would talk about his trips to Mexico. My mother was from there. And we would talk about the town she was from. He left to soon rest in peace my friend.

I truly am going to miss my cousin. Even though he was older than me, he always cared and stopped to talk about how my life was going. He would ask me about my uncle Tony Barajas & my aunts. He hung around with them in Oakland. I remember him always with Tio Vicente when I went to visit my Granpa Panfilo Toledo. Great memories and gonna mss him! May you Rest In Peace Primo! Gonna miss you.

To the family of Jerry, I am so sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of attending different events with “Iron” while we both worked for 501. He will be greatly missed.

Don't even know where to begin, except Jerry was a friend to everyone who met him. He lived with his Grandparents as I, so that was always our golden thread of connection. I remember seeing him with Genie and Mugs, sometimes Muskie. He was truly genuine and took good care of his Grandpa Don' Vicente. He was older than me, but as I grew the next I knew he was a Marine. He also has been a good friend of Adrians. Adrian has taken care of his lawn for the last few years and Gerry would just leave it to Adrian to get it done. In the Summer, Gerry would spend time in Mexico to study and he would have Adrian keep the lawn up and an eye on his place. In return, Gerry always brought Adrian a bottle of the best Tequila South of the Border. When he retired, we celebrated at his party with him for a bit. He was looking forward to his new chapter in his life.
We mourn your passing Jerry, but thank our dear Lord that you are in Paradise in His presence. Know that we loved you on Earth and we will love you in the Eternal Life. Godspeed dear friend, you are already missed.

I was a student of Mr.Toledo Spanish class at Highland Park High School.
Rest In Peace Mr.Toledo. That's sad that you are gone, you were one of the funniest teachers I ever had I'll never forget you always saying "Now back to what I was saying, before I was... Rudely interrupted" while staring at the students who interrupted you. May your soul rest in peace. You'll never be forgotten! Highland Park Staff and Students will miss you dearly ??????

Gerry befriended me and mentored me when we worked at French Middle School. Later we coordinated a leadership program for Hispanic youth at Highland Park. Gerry was a great friend and teacher to me; I learned much from him. I will always cherish our times together at Cousins after work on Fridays. Gerry, I'm glad I saw you at Dillon's a few months ago and you got to meet my son. To Ramona and family, I share my deepest condolences. Rest in peace, my friend. John M. Ybarra

I knew this Marine as a young boy back in the day. A good friend/musician Luis Padilla ( also a former Marine who has passed away) Was the first person that I know
that started calling Jerry " Fierros" Boy did Jerry get mad. don't know why he called him that But, he did. As a kid he would "hang" with Louie, my brother Alex and myself when we played our guitars on Lake street. Louie would tell him "Go Home Fierros" and Jerry would get upset. All in All he was a good person. RI P Marine Semper Fi

My deepest sympathy and condolences to the family of Gerry (Iron) Toledo my life long friend. We’ve been friends for over 55 years maybe even more and made a lot of memories. We went to school, ran the streets, hung out, played sports and even had a few beers together! We had some good times. Even as adults we still kept in contact and ran into each other once in awhile still keeping that friendship. Iron was a good friend, I will deeply miss him as I know his family will.
RIP Iron, your bro Ron Barron

My condolences to the Family. I will always remember Jerry as 'Iron', a nick name he got as a kid, never knew how, why or who first started calling him that. But in our neighborhood, everyone knew him as IRON. He always had a smile and joked around a lot. Rest In Peace IRON.

I've known "Iron" since I was a teenager in Oakland. He was a few years older than me, but always said hi and would talk to you. As we got older, we drank a few beers together. Every time we saw each other we would always stop and visit. I last talked with "Iron" a few months back at the east side Walmart. Again, we caught up on life. He was a gentle giant. I will always remember him taking the time to say hi and ask how you were doing. "Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace" John Anguiano

I went to Holiday with two Jerry Toledo's in the same class of 1969. Both were very nice, but had different ideas. One went by Iron. I'm very sorry for the families loss. I miss my friends from Holiday! I will say a prayer for Jerry and his family.
