Driving through Topeka in the next day or two and was going to call Tom to meet me at the Dutch Goose for a beer. Tom was a good friend during my three years at Washburn in the early 70’s. Wish we had stayed in better touch. Great guy. Don’t remember him ever getting angry. Happy to see he had a great family.

We are sorry for your loss. I am glad that I had the opportunity to work beside Tom for so many years as a part of the American Home Life family. We have a lot of good memories from the office and the beautiful convention locales that we went to over the years. He will be greatly missed.

Dear Madilyn and family
Words say very little at a time like this, but knowing family and friends are thinking of you and caring, maybe helps. I hope so. I know you all have wonderful memories of Tom and great he was in all of your lives.
He was always friendly and always had a smile when he greeted you.
Please accept my deepest sympathy.

Madilyn and the Morris Family:
I, too, was shocked to read of Tom's untimely passing in today's paper. I could not believe it. Tom and I both graduated from high school in 1967; he from Topeka West and I from Winfield High. But it was not until I returned to college at Washburn after completing my second tour of duty in VietNam that I met Tom. We became fast friends, spending too much time on the pinball machine at the Dutch Goose, shooting pool in various venues around Topeka, skiing in Colorado on spring breaks, maybe drinking a beer or two, and just hanging out. You could not have had a better friend. I will fondly and forever remember those memories of Tom, his marriage to Madilyn, their children, Ali, CB and Barbara, and his siblings, Julie, Nancy and Anne. You are a wonderful family and each one of you is in my heart and my prayers. My wife, Kristina, and I send you our deepest sympathies. Tom, you will be missed. God bless.

What an outstanding man Tom was for so many of us in the Topeka West Family. Such a caring, supportive and truly kind man! The school and the kids at Topeka West who got to know him at various events were better for doing so! My prayers are with the family. Life can end so abruptly... but Tom’s contribution while here will live on for many years. We were truly blessed. God bless you all.

I was shocked and saddened to hear about Tom. I have known Tom for a long time and he was such a great guy. We were in the same graduating class at TWHS and I remember at our 50th reunion and what a wonderful time I had talking with him and catching up on our kids and grandkids. He was one of the best. Prayers to your family.

I am shocked and saddened to hear about Tom’s passing. Tom was a kind spirit who was always willing to share. He and his beautiful wife Madilyn would open their house for holiday celebrations and invite my family to join in for a wonderful time. Tom was a great listener and thoughtful participant in our conversations and I will miss him dearly. My prayers go out to Madilyn and her family. God Bless Doug, Cindy, Van and Pam Crary

I’m so sorry! I’m a neighbor, at 2733 SW Bluestem Dr. Please let me know if anything I can do for you. Tom and I spoke often, at the mail box at your driveway. My wife died suddenly just like Tom five months ago. So my Sincere heart felt empathy is with you all. God bless and comfort you. Larry

Gigi & I we’re greatly saddened to hear of Tom’s passing. It was a pleasure working with Tom. He had a very friendly personality and was always positive in all of his communications. He not only greatly added to the financial security of American Home Life but he made it an enjoyable environment to work in. We miss you, Tom, but we know we will see you again in Heaven, because of the promises Christ has given all of us who have turned to Him.

Holding you and your family close to my heart! Tom played such an important role in my young life. Love you all!
~ Karlene Wood - April 17, 2020
Please accept my condolence for you and your family. I was so fortunate to sit with Tom at our last high school reunion. We caught up on several year's worth of memories along with Mike Ecord adding to the conversation. As I told Mike when he called this morning to tell me of Tom's passing, Tom was my fifth-grade crush although it was only a one-sided crush. I used to bike as much as I could circling past his house in Knollwood, only wishing for him to be hanging around outside. Again, I am sorry for your loss.
~ Janet Fritts Jackson - April 17, 2020
I remember Tom WAY BACK at Topeka Country Club when he was a young teenager and I was 3 years older - I definitely remember he was a cutie! I got to know him after he and Madilyn married. Every time I visited them, Tom and I would always end up reminiscing about people we knew and connections we had from our past .... always much fun...we had good memories! Tom always had a wonderful smile on his face with a twinkle in his eyes. What a wonderful person he grew up to be. I will miss our fun talks. He will be greatly missed.
My love to you, Madilyn, and the rest of your family,
Nan Hawks

We are so very sad to hear of Tom's death. He was a long time friend of Jim's for over 60 years. We loved him so much. He was such a support to Jim during Jim's heart attack last fall. We only wish that we could have returned the love to him in his time of need. We will miss him terribly.
Love to Tom and his wonderful family,
