Heather Angela King, 54, Wichita KS, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2020 unexpectedly at a Wichita hospital.

Heather was born March 4, 1966 in Hays, KS, the daughter of John and Connie (Meis) Willett. She grew up in Topeka and graduated from Washburn Rural High School. She worked in Communications for the 190th Air National Guard for thirteen years earning a rank as Master Sergeant and serving in Desert Storm. Heather went on to earn her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Baker University. Heather was proud to devote almost twenty years working in the labor and delivery room, welcoming new babies and placing them in their family’s arms.

Heather married, David King on January 30, 1988 in Topeka, KS.

Heather loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. She had a fondness of cooking, sewing and crafts. She loved her dogs and gardening. She had a sharp wit and great sense of humor. Heather had a fondness for sweets that matched her personality. She had a loving and caring heart, always thinking of others. Her presence will be greatly missed.

Grateful to have shared Heather’s life are her husband David, their daughters: Amanda King, Wichita, KS; Shaunah (Andy) Cherry and their children, Leon and Ayla, Shady Side, MD; Samantha (Shawn) King and son, Allen, Colorado Springs, CO; Brianna King (fiancé Josh Hirschler), Wichita, KS; sons: Benjamin King, Colorado Springs, CO and Noah King, Wichita, KS. Other survivors include her mom, Connie Willett, Topeka, KS; sisters: Kimberlee (Steve) Burghart, Wellsville, KS; Gina (Dave) Coffman, Topeka, KS; Michele Banks, Wichita KS and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her father, John Willett; her brother, Phil Willett; niece, Marissa Burghart and her grandparents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 29, 2020 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Topeka. A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the church with a rosary at 10:30 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Topeka, Kansas.
