Dean Melton, 80, of Burlingame, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2020.

He was born October 20, 1939, in Silver Lake, Kansas, the son of Ralph and Lola (Lister) Melton. He received a High School Diploma from Highland Park School in Topeka, Kansas.

Dean was employed by BRB Construction and later retired. He spent many years as a truck driver over the road.

Mr. Melton was a member of the Auburn Presbyterian Church, of Auburn. He served as an Elder on the Session and was part of the building committee.

Dean was an avid vegetable gardener and it was one of his greatest enjoyments. He served as a chair person for the Auburn Farmers Market. He also enjoyed traveling to visit family.

Dean married Patti L. Mitchell on February 5, 1960 at the Auburn Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife, Patti L. Melton; daughters, Diane (Chris) Kuffler of Salina, Kansas and Barbara (Jim) Whitehead of Silver Lake, Kansas; son, Kenny Melton of Nashville, Tennessee; seven grandchildren; six great- grandchildren; brother, Darold Melton. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Delmar Melton and a sister, Dorothy.

Cremation is planned. A Celebration of his Life will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Auburn Community Center, 121 W 11th St, Auburn, KS 66402. The family will greet friends the night before at Auburn Presbyterian Church from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
