Eleanor Marie "Vali" Reams
1942 - 2020

Eleanor Marie (Vali) Reams, 78, passed away on Oct 4, 2020 at home in Topeka, KS.
She was born to Albert Rapp and Irene Stoffels on March 16, 1942 in Faribault, MN. Her family moved to Floyd, IA where she attended elementary and high school.

Vali was married to Peter Horvath from Oct 24,1959 through 1981. During this time, she became mother to five children and worked for 13 years at Sara Lee in New Hampton, IA.
In August of 1982, she married Marc Reams. In 1985, they relocated to Jonesboro, Arkansas, where she attended Arkansas State University (ASU). Vali graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. She passed the CPA test shortly after graduating.

Vali and Marc moved to Topeka, KS in 1992. She worked as Audit Supervisor for KS DEPT of REVENUE and retired March 2007.

Vali is survived by her husband, Marc of Topeka, KS; 4 sons: Nick (Dee) Horvath of Basehor, KS, Chris (Joni) Horvath of Prior Lake, MN, Peter Horvath of Topeka, KS, Eric (Becky) Horvath of Manchester, WA; 1 daughter: Melissa Dotson, Independence, MO; 4 step sons: Jim Reams of Charles City, IA, Gene (Sandy) Reams of Topeka, KS, Lee Reams of Rockford, IA and David( Alison) Reams of Charles City, IA; 2 sisters: Eileen(John) Caldwell of Salt Lake City, UT and Paula Jacobson of Mason City, IA; 19 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren; multiple cousins, nieces, nephews and her aunt Elaine Hendricks Cedar Park, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father Harold Matthes; 4 brothers: John, Don & Joe Rapp and Tony Matthes; 2 sisters: Dorothy Matthews and Marge Reed; 3 grandchildren: Christine and Chelsea Horvath and Adam Reams; 3 great grandchildren: Austin Wahl, Evan and Carson Dietz.

She will be cremated with funeral services and burial later in Charles City, IA when the pandemic has subsided.
