Gerald L."Jerry" Houpt, 85, of Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at a Topeka hospital. He was born September 3, 1935 in Atchison, Kansas, the son of Thomas M. and Lola M. (Lindsey) Houpt.

Jerry graduated from Highland Park High School. He owned and operated General Appliance & TV Service for over 40 years. He was an Army Veteran.

Jerry married Louina J. "Lou" Dodson on October 1, 1953 in Topeka. She preceded him in death on February 14, 2010. He later married Janice M. "Jan" Heinen on February 3, 2012 in Topeka. She survives.

Other survivors include children, Kevin (Laura) Heinen of Topeka, Keri (Devin) Graf of Topeka, six grandchildren, Whitney, Haley, Nathan, Thomas, Jake and Jenna, one great-grandson, Weston, Jerry’s sister, Helen Livingston of Topeka and his faithful furry friend, Lilbit. Also surviving from his first marriage to Lou are one son, Lonnie and three grandchildren.

Jerry was preceded in death by his four siblings, Thomas, Dorothy, Arthur and Clyde.
Cremation has taken place and a Private Celebration of Jerry's Life will be held at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. Private inurnment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 SW 21st St., Topeka, Kansas 66604.
