I am so thankful that I have gotten to know Janet and Al in the past 12 years that I have visited Topeka to see my extended family. Janet and Al were always happy to drive with us to Herington for family reunions. We enjoyed the scenic byways and stopped at Alma Creamery. Janet would host delicious dinners at their lovely lake home for Virginia and me. Janet was always full of energy, humor and joie de vivre. My time spent with Janet was very special and I will miss her. I send my deepest condolences to her loving family.

Danny, it sounds like your Mother was quite a woman, and she was certainly lucky to have you as her son. My prayers are with you during this time.

Michael and Michelle, I am so sorry to hear of your Mother's passing. Janet was such a sweet, classy lady. She
was always so kind and supportive of me. What a fabulous job she did raising such accomplished children. I know
you will miss her dearly. I will keep you in my prayers to find comfort and for you to remember all of the joyous times you
had with your Mom during your life. I know she was very proud of you both. You are in my thoughts as you mend
your broken, empty heart with her loss. Love you guys. Patty Dick

Janet was a lovely human on every level. Kind, optimistic, helpful, enthusiastic, supportive and always quick to flash her gorgeous smile. My parents were neighbors of the Metzes on Lake Sherwood for years, and more recently, my husband and I claimed that extremely fortunate distinction as well. Even in sad times, Janet always managed to find a silver-lining. It was her gift. In her powerful wake, she brought fun and hope to any event or situation. If you ever had the privilege of being in her beautiful and meticulous home, you would see loving memories of a lifetime on full display. As she shared her life stories, her gratitude, appreciation and humility literally emanated from her being. Her glow was unmistakable and her energy was remarkable. If you were privileged to know her, you were blessed indeed. I will miss her. Prayers to her beautiful family....you gave her life value and meaning. I never had a conversation with Janet where several of you weren’t mentioned. She loved you all so very much.

I met Janet a few years ago when we realized both of our husbands suffered from dementia. She offered to take me to a dementia group. Although we had few interactions, I appreciated her support. I’m so sorry that I just found out about her husband’s passing and her illness. I admired her stamina and spirit in dealing with her husband’s illness. I send my prayers to the family. Sue ohlde

You were an example to all of us on how to live life--to LIVE, LAUGH, AND LOVE. It was comforting to know that Al and you were nearby in the yellow apartment that I could see from my patio. I really enjoyed our backyard visits when the weather was nice. I have so many nice memories--our family reunions, your dinners, your soups you brought over, and many more. Rest in peace, dear Cousin.

I remember Janet as a kind and caring individual from my association with her beginning at Topeka State hospital where I served as a chaplain and First Presbyterian Church where I served as a Parish Associate pastor. In 2019 my wife and I moved to Brewster Place and there came in contact with Janet and Al again as neighbors. Janet will remain in my memory as a pleasant most friendly person ready to help in any way she could.
My best wishes go with you in your journey ahead and may you be blest by your memories of this gracious lady.

My sincere condolences to the family at Janet’s passing. She was such a sweet person. Often, I might just pop in to deliver some cookies to her and Al, and to chat and she was always so kind and hospitable. She had such positive energy and was grace-filled. I will miss her dearly. Blessings to her family during this difficult time.

What a privilege and joy to know Janet as a neighbor in the Villas. She was a ray of sunshine and joy, always with a smile on her face. Loving and sharing, she spread happiness and positivity on a daily basis... even as cancer was winning. Rest In Peace, Janet. I hope there’s a great beauty shop in heaven!

Mike, Michele, Jerry, Danny and families,
My love to you all. Aunt Janet was a beautiful and joyful woman, a loving wife and mother, and a special Aunt to me and my girls. She was also a caring and supportive friend and sister-in-law to my Mother. We will all miss her! My thoughts are with you at this time. I know you have wonderful memories of your times with her that I hope will give you some comfort.
“Most of all the other beautiful things in life come by twos and threes, by dozens and hundreds. Plenty of roses, stars, sunsets, rainbows, brothers and sisters, aunts and cousins, but only one mother in the whole world.”
