Dennis Mayo, 75, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021.

He was born August 28, 1945, in Tunbridge Wells, England the son of Shirley and Joan (Nott) Mayo.

Dennis graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1964 with honors and was a multi-sport athlete earning a football and track scholarship to Washburn University where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He was also a member of Gamma Nu Chapter of Kappa Sigma Fraternity.

He was employed by JF McGivern, Inc. for over 40 years prior to retiring and was a member of Countryside United Methodist Church of Topeka.

Dennis married the love of his life, Sally B. McArthur on December 18, 1971 in Topeka, KS. They spent 49 years together and raised four children and seven grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Sally Mayo of Topeka; his four children, Emily (Beau) Caryl and Laura (Jason) Parker both of Topeka, Sean Mayo of San Diego, CA and Sarah Mayo of Cary, NC; his sisters, Sandra (Randy Finnerin) Boykin of North Fort Myers, FL and Patricia (Greg) Long of Topeka; his grandchildren, Braden Mayo, Zoe Caryl, Adisyn Caryl, Emmerson Cope, Mackenzie Caryl, Hailey Caryl, Logan Parker and other extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Dennis enjoyed his annual fly fishing trip with his friends for over 50 years, bowling an almost perfect game with a score of 299, spending time at the lake house each summer for family vacations, shooting off the big cat fireworks and an occasional grand finale quarter stick of dynamite on the 4th of July and watching his children and grandchildren's sports and activities.

A visitation will take place at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Mount Hope Cemetery, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka, KS 66604. A Celebration of Life will follow at the graveside starting at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow.
