Debra Mary Heffren
1955 - 2021

Debra Mary Heffren, 66, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2021.

She was born April 30, 1955, in Saginaw, Michigan, the daughter of James B. and Mary J. (Brady) Ledford. She received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Saint Leo University.

Debbie was a retired realtor.

Debbie was a member of Northland Christian Church, of Topeka, and Topeka North Outreach (TNO).

Debbie married John Heffren on December 26, 1995 in Weeki Wachee, Florida. Survivors include her husband; children, Patrick Haas (Stephanie) of Homosassa, FL, Audrey Haas of Topeka, Jaclynn Williams (Mat) of Topeka, David Heffren (Katie) of Topeka, Paul Heffren (Dekeysha Cooper-Heffren) of Topeka, and Daniel Moyer (Courtney) of Overbrook, KS; grandchildren Savanna Haas, Andrew Haas, Teddy Williams, Joshua Haas, Addie Heffren, and Liesel Moyer; and aunt Norma Brady of Spring Hill, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Patrick (“PJ”) Haas.

Christian service was her biggest passion; everything that she did was for the glory of God. She especially enjoyed coordinating and cooking meals for large gatherings at church or for TNO. She often used her other talents, such as art or construction, for Christian service.

Debbie had a passion for painting and freely gave paintings to those who wanted one. She also enjoyed building things and doing projects around the house. She was equally adept with a hammer as she was with a paint brush.

Debbie loved to visit lighthouses, and she visited nearly a hundred of them throughout the country. She enjoyed watching sunsets, especially at the beach. She loved her cats, spending time with her family, and going to Christian rock concerts.

Debbie was cremated. A memorial ceremony will be held on Monday, June 21st at 11:30 AM at Northland Christian Church, 3102 North Topeka Blvd, Topeka, KS 66617. Visitation with the family will be before the service, beginning at 9:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to the building fund of Christ’s Family Christian Church, Homosassa, FL, online at www.CFCC.church
