John Mark Hickling, 64, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, September 2, 2021.

He was born September 11, 1956, in Joplin, Missouri, the son of Rev. Harrison and Pearl (Goans) Hickling.

John graduated from Reynolds High School in Winston-Salem, NC in 1975. He later went on to attend college where he did receive some college credit.

John was employed by the VA Hospital in Topeka for approximately 15 years as a customer service representative.

He was a member of the Faith Family Life Center in Topeka.

John married Michelle Horton on October 15, 1994 in Winston-Salem, NC.

Survivors include his wife, Michelle Hickling of Topeka; his daughter, Havilah Hickling of Lawrence; his sisters, Brenda (Elmer “Sarge”) Sargent of Winston-Salem, NC and Karen Brown of Mocksville, NC and his brother, Jim (Janet) Hickling of Glendale, AZ and a host of nieces and nephews that loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Howard Leon Hickling.

John was an avid car and gun enthusiast.

Honoring John’s request, cremation is planned. The family will greet friends on Monday, September 6, 2021 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Dove Cremations and Funerals – Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd., Topeka, KS 66610.
