Charla Delaine Parks
1960 - 2021

Charla Delaine Parks, 61, of Topeka, passed away at Midland Hospice on Wednesday, September 22, 2021.

She was born September 15, 1960, in Topeka, Kansas. She graduated from Highland Park High School where she excelled as a stand out athlete in track. Shortly after high school she entered the United States Army and then attended Jackson State University.

Charla loved to listen to music and danced like nobody was watching. Charla had an independent spirit and didn’t like anyone fussing over her.

Charla was employed in California, which she loved, for 15 years.

She had a special affection for her dogs Beastie, Saint, Buddy, and Tiger. Though she did not have children she carried a special love in her heart for her nieces and nephews throughout her life.

She leaves to cherish her memories her brother, Kenneth Wright (Shirley) of Topeka, whom she affectionately called “Bruthy”; ex-husband James Anderson of Jackson, Mississippi; her cousins Anita Edwards and Marshelle Williams; and a host of friends and family. She was preceded in death by her mother Bernice Powell, her father Charles James Parks and her sister Deborah Tolbert.

A private family celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 2nd. More specific information will be available from Dove Southwest Chapel in the future.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
