Roberta M. “Bobbie” Hodgson, 90, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2021.
She was born January 16, 1931, in Alta Vista, Kansas, the daughter of Robert and Hazel (Hauserman) Orton. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1948.
Roberta married Ernest Hodgson on March 12, 1950, in Harveyville. He preceded her in death in May of 2000. Survivors include her children, Janice Cook (Ward) of Topeka, Joe Hodgson of Smithville, MO, and Connie Tacha and Dorothy Bryan of Auburn, KS; brother Richard Orton (Linda) of Atchison, KS; five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest; sister Georgiana Carpenter of Wichita and brother Ron Orton of Florida.
Roberta enjoyed quiltmaking, with one of her quilts displayed at Bloomingdale’s in New York City. She was an avid bridge player. Ms. Hodgson was a member of the Harveyville United Methodist Church, of Harveyville, KS.
Roberta was cremated. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, October 9th from 9:30 am to 11:30 am at the Harveyville United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Harveyville United Methodist Church, 371 Wabaunsee Ave, Harveyville, KS 66431.
