Clarice I. Timken, 91, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at McCrite Plaza in Topeka. She was born October 29, 1929 in Lancaster, Kansas, the daughter of George and Ida (Gigstad) Buttron.

Clarice graduated from Atchison County Community High School in Effingham in 1947 and earned a Bachelor's of Music Education from Emporia State University in 1951. She taught at Cimarron and Effingham Public Schools. Clarice was a self-employed piano teacher for many years. During the 1960’s, she served as the Choir Director for First Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Highland Park United Methodist Church.

Clarice married Frank D. Timken on May 12, 1953 in Cimarron, Kansas. He preceded her in death on January 2, 2019.
Survivors include their children; Elaine (Tom) Ford of Wakarusa, Kansas, Mark (Hye Kyung) Timken of Albany, California, three grandchildren; Douglas (Whitney), Kirsten (Gabe) and Alice, three-great-grandchildren, Camden, Keely and Kendyl and her sister, Margaret Worrell of Olathe.

Clarice was preceded in death by her brother, Albert Buttron.

Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Highland Park United Methodist Church, 2914 SE Michigan Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66605 or to The Friends Of The Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library, 1515 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66604.
