She was born December 23, 1931, in Birmingham, Alabama, the only child of Linton and Myra (Courington) Richardson. Fran spent her young life in several Central American countries where her father was an Agronomist at fruit plantations and, for a time, a member of the State Department. She graduated from Ward-Belmont High School in Nashville in 1949 and attended Florida State University, where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi.
Fran was employed as an Executive Legal Secretary by the state and federal governments. She worked for the Kansas Legislature, was the secretary for two Kansas Attorneys General, and worked for the Kansas Supreme Court, the Chief Judge of the Kansas Court of Appeals and for a judge at the United States Tenth Circuit Court.
Ms. Olin member of Topeka First Methodist Church. She was past president for the League of Women Voters and was the first two-term president of the Topeka Woman's Club. She was also a member of the board of directors for a Lawrence lake club and enjoyed spending her time at her cabin.
On October 19, 1968, in Topeka, Fran married James J. Olin, who preceded her in death in 2007. Survivors include a son, J. Michael Ayers (Linette) of Olathe; two grandchildren, Jordan (Macie) Ayers of Columbia, MO and Kelsey (Brenden) Kincaid of Overland Park; great-grandchildren Anderson, Alton and Adeline Ayers who knew her affectionately as GiGi. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Fran was a gifted hostess, bridge player, and opera lover. She was passionate about being involved in her community and was an avid traveler.
A memorial ceremony will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, January 11th at the Mount Hope Cemetery Chapel, 4700 SW 17th Street in Topeka. The family will receive friends at the chapel at 9:30 AM. Interment will be in O’Brien, Florida, in the family plot.
