Robert E. “Bob” Grame, 75, of Topeka passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2022. He was born on August 4, 1946 in Topeka, KS, son of John C. and Gladys Grame. He was a U.S. Army veteran and fought in Vietnam.

Bob worked at the Kansas City Star newspaper for many years. Bob was a big fan of the KU Jayhawks and the KC Chiefs. He enjoyed coaching youth baseball and softball teams and traveling to the mountains in Colorado. He was a great dad, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother, Gloria Jean Grame, his sister, Neva Batcheller, brother, John W. Grame, niece Debbie Batcheller, and nephew, Michael Stattelman.

Survivors include his siblings, Roberta Buchholz, Velma Stattelman, Ella Johnson, Charles Grame, Francis Grame, and Neil Grame, Bob's children- Robert Grame, Jr. (Christi), Shirley Turrentine (Clayton), and John Grame (Dulce), Grandchildren- Tristan, Kess, Wynn, Sarah, Stephany, Erika, and Erik, Great grandchildren, ex-wife Carolyn Tortorici, her sister, Shirley Bessette and her children, David and Julie, plus numerous nieces and nephews and their families. He will be missed.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 21, 2022 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. Cremation will follow the service and private inurnment will take place in Leavenworth National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given directly to Bob's children to assist the family with funeral expenses. Please feel free to contact the family for donation information.
