Homer Dean Klamm, 89, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022. He was born September 16, 1932 in Topeka, the son of Homer Daniel and Florence Lillian (Barraclough) Klamm.

Dean graduated from Topeka High School. He was a Navy Veteran, serving from 1953 - 1957. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Washburn University in 1967. Dean was employed as an electrician by the Santa Fe Railroad for 37 years before retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Highland Park United Methodist Church and was active with the Shawnee County Girls’ Softball Association where he served as an officer and coached his daughters’ teams for many years.

Dean married Barbara J. Johnson on June 5, 1959 in Topeka. She preceded him in death on October 8, 2019. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Dorothy Christman, Paul Klamm and Robert Klamm.

Survivors include their children, Curtis (Debbie) Klamm, Laura (Bruce) Ferguson, Diana (Chris) Swickard and Jennifer Klamm all of Topeka, six grandchildren, Chandler (Anna) Klamm, Spencer Klamm, Alex Ferguson, Eli Ferguson, Zachary (Shelby) Swickard and Emily Swickard. Dean is also survived by his sister, Dolores (K) Lewis.

A private Celebration of Dean’s Life will be held at Topeka Bible Church on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at 3:30 p.m. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to S.C.A.R.S. (Second Chance Animal Refuge Society), P.O. Box 22, Auburn, Kansas 66402.
