In Memory Of
Mary Elizabeth Crispin
1926 - 2022

Mary Elizabeth Crispin, 95, passed on to her eternal rest on April 26, 2022, at the Lexington Park Nursing Facility, Topeka, Kansas. She was born to Martin William and Carrie (Heffner) Stewart on October 30, 1926, in Overbrook, Kansas. She spent her childhood in Overbrook, where she attended and graduated from the Overbrook Grade and High Schools. After graduation, she moved to Topeka for employment in 1944. It was in Topeka that she met the love of her life, Jack Darrell Crispin. They married on June 24, 1949, in Topeka, after Jack completed his service in the Army Air Force during WWII. They lived in Topeka for a few years, until they built their new home in Tecumseh, Kansas. They happily lived and raised their family there. Jack died in 2015, and Mary remained in the home until health concerns necessitated a move to assisted living facilities in Topeka in 2017.

Mary worked for several businesses during her life but making a home for her husband and children was her calling. She had many interests including gardening, bird watching and travel, but serving her community was also important to her. She was an active and long-time member of the Tecumseh United Methodist Women and the Tecumseh Garden Club, among others. Her creative side was exhibited in her many projects in sewing, ceramics and art. She attended and was a member of the Overbrook Methodist, Topeka First Methodist and Tecumseh United Methodist Churches.

She is survived by sons Jack, Jr. (Kathie) of Lincoln, Kansas, Jerry (Cheryl) of Topeka, and daughters Jill Emme, of Topeka, and Julie Steinbock of West End, North Carolina; by seven grandchildren: Jennifer Crispin (Andrew Schnepp) of Lansing, Michigan, Jessa Crispin (Nicholas Milo) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Penny Crispin of Ithaca, New York, Bradley Emme of Topeka, Craig Emme (Alissa) of Raymore, Missouri, Hannah Steinbock & Emily Steinbock of West End, North Carolina; and 6 great grandchildren: Jefferson & Solomon Crispin-Schnepp and Jackson, Jordan, Dash & Ryder Emme.

Cremation was chosen and a private graveside service at West Lawn Memorial Gardens, Topeka, is planned.

Memorials may be made to the Tecumseh United Methodist Church, 334 SE Tecumseh Rd, Tecumseh, KS 66542, or to Elara Caring Hospice, 901 NE River Road, Ste 101, Topeka, KS 66616.
