John P. “Johnny” Cobuluis, Jr., 81, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at the University of Kansas St. Francis Campus Hospital. He was born June 6, 1940 in Wheeling, West Virginia, the son of John P. and Pauline (Brooks) Cobuluis, Sr.

John received his GED and entered the Air Force in 1957. After being Honorably Discharged, he went to work for a creamery in Concordia, Kansas. He spent most of his career at Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center before retiring. After retirement, he owned several small business. He was a Hamm Radio operator and was also a Professional Magician and owned a small magic shop in Topeka for several years. He also served as the President of the Society of American Magicians and was a member of American Legion Post No. 400.

John married Sharon Southerland on November 1, 1958 in Westmoreland, Kansas. She preceded him in death on January 17, 2015. He was also preceded in death by one son-in-law, Santos Ortiz and his sister, Beverly Baldwin.

Survivors include children, John Paul (Barb) Cobuluis, III, Joanne Ortiz, Jim Cobuluis and Danny (Dori) Slusser all of Topeka, ten grandchildren, Five great-grandchildren with another great-grandchild on the way. Also surviving are his siblings, Roy (Sue) Cobuluis of North Carolina, Shirley Hoag of Florida, James Cobuluis of Topeka and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. Private inurnment will take place in Olsburg Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 SW 21st St., Topeka, Kansas 66614.
