Ernest C. "Ernie" Amos, 90, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022 at a Topeka care facility. He was born May 11, 1931 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the son of Ernest Clair and Argie (Dean) Amos.

Ernie was an Air Force veteran serving for over 28 years from 1948 through 1976 before retiring. During his military service during the Korean War and the Vietnam War, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, the Air Medal and the Meritorious Service Award. Ernie was a member of the United States Air Force Thunderbirds, serving as part of the first team to tour outside of the United States of America. His military service took him to Chile, Iran, Philippines, Japan, Thailand and England. Ernie retired with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant (E9). He then owned and operated Ernie’s Refreshments and Ernie & Sons performing refrigeration service. He was a member of the Berryton Baptist Church and American Legion Capitol Post No. 1.

Ernie married Marca D. Fischer on March 12, 1977 in Topeka. She preceded him in death on March 31, 2020. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Laura E. Morgan.

Survivors include one son, Joe (Julie) Amos of Topeka, four grandchildren, Erin, Justine, Zak and Mindy, ten great-grandchildren, Natalie, Fiona, Luke, Anna Kate, Nico, Eivin, Nora, Hannah, Nathan and Mia and his sister, Linda Dewey of Columbus, Kansas.

As per Ernie's wishes, cremation has taken place and no memorial services are planned. Private inurnment will take place at a later date in the Oswego, Kansas cemetery.
