Sam D. Rice, 53, of Topeka, Kansas passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022. He was born August 11, 1968 to Sam and Cynthia J. (Brooks) Rice in Topeka.

Sam graduated in 1986 from Fredrick High School in Frederick, Oklahoma, then in his later years went back and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Washburn University. He was currently employed by Amazon (Daifuku/Elite Line Services) and previously worked for Frito Lay and Garnett Publishing. He was also a long-standing member of the Black Hawks Motorcycle Club since 1989.

Sam who was also affectionately called Dion by his family and closest friends, had a deep appreciation for learning, loved spending time with his family and friends - especially his children, enjoyed working on cars and riding his motorcycle.

Sam was preceded in death by his father, Sam Rice and his loving Aunt Jimmie and Uncle Mark Crane who raised him.

He is survived by his children, Payton M. Rice and Markell D. Rice of Topeka, Kansas, his mother, Cynthia "Joann" McGhee of Raytown, Missouri, his siblings, Donnie Rice, LaShawna (Jake) Jackson, Kiara (Dale) Sanders, Tyree McGhee, the mothers of his children Aliesha Bloomer and Tami Rice, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and extended family & friends.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave., Topeka, KS, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service time. Cremation will follow the service and private inurnment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to B.A.C.A. NE Kansas Chapter (Bikers Against Child Abuse), P.O. Box 8653, Topeka, Kansas 66608.
