Carolyn B. Bayless, 77, of Berryton, passed away on Monday, July 18, 2022. She was born November 22, 1944 in Emporia, Kansas, the daughter of John R. and Adrian B. (Miller) Rippetoe.

Carolyn graduated from Theodore High School in Theodore, Alabama in 1962 and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from Washburn University in 1970 and a Master's in Public Administration from the University of Kansas in 1984. She was a Program Director for the State of Kansas for 30 years before retiring in 2007.

Carolyn married Nathan Bayless on May 28, 1970 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on July 8, 2007.

Survivors include her five siblings, Ralph (Velma) Rippetoe of Wellsville, Kansas, John Dean Rippetoe of Topeka, Deborah (Jeff) Hannum of Tucson, Arizona, Earl Rippetoe of Berryton and Renee Rippetoe of Berryton, two nieces, Sherry Oneslager of Lawrence and Marcia Devers of Baldwin City, four great-nieces, Alexis, Sue Ann, Jacie, Kimberly and one great-nephew, Seth.

As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private Celebration of Carolyn’s Life will be held at a later date for family and friends. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the organization of the donor’s choice.

Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. is assisting the family with service arrangements.
