1931 - 2022

Robert L. “Bob” Schaeffer, 90, Topeka, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at Colonial Village in Overland Park with family by his side.

Bob was born August 26, 1931 in Wichita, the son of Lewis and Lillian (Pfanschmidt) Schaeffer. He graduated from Topeka High School and received a Bachelor’s degree from Washburn University.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954, spending 18 months overseas.

He was employed as an Investment Banker with Columbian Securities Corporation.

He was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

He enjoyed golf, yard work, hunting duck, geese and quail and loved to travel and spend time with family and friends.

Robert married Barbara Jean Bartley on February 1, 1958 in Topeka. She passed away April 13, 2020. Survivors include son, Greg Schaeffer, Aurora, CO; daughter, Ann (Lou) Farho, Leawood; grandchildren, Ilya Schaeffer, Taylor (Conor) Feehan, Kaitlin (Jacob) Lenox, Rachel Johnson, Zachary Farho, Noah Farho; triplet great-grandchildren, Jack, Ella and Olivia; brother, Richard (Susan) Schaeffer; and sister, Deanna (Ron) Rogg. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Jack (Mary Ann) Eugene Schaeffer.

Honoring his request, cremation has taken place and a joint celebration of Bob and Barbara’s lives will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at the Mount Hope Cemetery Funeral Chapel. Inurnment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
