Fred graduated from Emporia High School. He was a Navy Veteran serving during WWII. Fred was employed by Mobil Oil Company for many years before retiring in 1983. After retirement, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and his family. He was a life-time member of the VFW and the American Legion.
Fred married Vera M. Sutton on October 19, 1947. They were married for 75 years. She survives. Other survivors include children, Jerry (Deborah) Renchler of Topeka, Sandy (Jim) Bumgarner of Topeka, two granddaughters, Jessica (Chris) Christie of Topeka, Kelsey (Mike) Wiber of Hurst, Texas, four great-grandchildren, Trenton, Jaxson, Nolan and Aubrey.
Fred was preceded in death by his siblings, Audrey Renchler, C.B. Braswell, Alma Hurst and Robert Renchler.
A Celebration of Fred's Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 17, 2022 at the Lakeview Church of the Nazarene where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the organization of the donor’s choice.
Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. is assisting the family with service arrangements.
