Marilyn Eileen Slawson, 78, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2022.

She was a daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, wife, mother, grandmother (Nana), and a great-grandmother. Her family and friends will remember her as the most loving, strong, hardworking, and considerate woman that never complained, but simply loved with everything inside of her. Throughout Marilyn’s wonderful and recent years, she spent most of her time doing the things she loved most: caring for a beautiful family home, seeing loved ones regularly, bird watching, painting, gardening, spending time with her husband Larry (who she adored with her whole heart), cooking, and baking delicious meals, spending Wednesday nights with her granddaughters, and a great gift of meeting and spending time with her great grandson. She was taken too suddenly from this world, but she will always be loved and never forgotten for the amazing and wonderful woman that she was.

Marilyn was born June 19th, 1944, in Topeka, Kansas. The daughter of Ruth E. Rider (Reedy) and Kenneth E. Rider. She was a 1962 graduate from Highland Park High School in Topeka, KS.

On September 19th, 1964, Marilyn and Larry Slawson were united in marriage in Topeka, KS, and were happily together for 58 years. After high school, Marilyn worked for the National Reserve Life Insurance Company until she and Larry settled down and had both of their two amazing sons. She was a stay-at-home mom and cared for her sons and the family home for several years until she decided to go work for Asay’s Sportsman's Store as an engraver.

Survivors include her loving Husband, Larry Slawson, a sister, Delores Wakeman, two sons, Brian (Jamie) Slawson, Mark (Wendy) Slawson, granddaughter’s Destiny Slawson (Casey McCoun), Danielle (Sam) McAdoo, and great-grandson Harrison McAdoo (all of Topeka) and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Judith E. Sims.

A visitation will take place from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday, September 26, 2022 at Dove Cremation and Funerals Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd., Topeka, KS 66610.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 SW 21st St., Topeka, Kansas 66604.
