Gailand D. Kennedy, 84, of Berryton, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at McCrite Plaza. He was born July 20, 1938 in Topeka, the son of Wallace and Violet (Kampschroeder) Kennedy.

Gailand graduated from Berryton High School. He served time in the Kansas National Guard. He farmed his entire life.

Gailand married Marcia K. Humphrey on June 15, 1958 in Stull, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include one son, Garry (Susan) D. Kennedy of Auburn, three grandchildren, Nicole Potts, Brandon Kennedy, Dustin (Samantha) Kennedy, five great-grandchildren, Aiden Potts, Simon Potter, Collin Potts, Zeyenna Kennedy and Kryslin Kennedy and two sisters.

Gailand was preceded in death by one daughter, Kimberley K. Kennedy in March 1984, one great-grandson, Deacon Potts in March 2007 and his loving daughter-in-law, Christina Kennedy in May 1997.

A Celebration of Gailand’s Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 25, 2022 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. The family requests casual dress. Private inurnment will take place in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Children's Mercy Hospital, Attn: Resource Development 2401 Gillham Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64108 or to Elara Caring Hospice, 901 NE River Rd., Ste. 101, Topeka, Kansas 66616.
