Virginia L. McClure, 90, of Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2022. She was born February 4, 1932 in Hutchinson, the daughter of Blaine and Jennie (Nelson) Hill.

Virginia graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1950 and studied accounting at Hutchinson Junior College. She held accounting positions at Dillons and Bourell Floor Covering in Hutchinson until she moved to Rock Island, Illinois in 1952 to work for the Lutheran Church. She moved back to Hutchinson in 1956 where she met and married the love of her life, Harry L. McClure on April 6, 1957. Together, they owned and operated their accounting businesses in Wichita, Topeka and Lawrence, Kansas until they retired in 2014. Many of their decades-long clients were very dear friends.

Virginia relished her ancestorial roots. She exuded the properness and resoluteness of her English father while coming to grips with the many adversities she faced in life. From her Swedish mother, she embraced and endearing kindness, love for God and the enjoyment of a good cinnamon roll.

Virginia was a member of the Countryside United Methodist Church in Topeka. She cherished the many wonderful friends at her church. Most conversations with Virginia would include an expression of her deep gratitude for being able to celebrate her love for God in fellowship with so many great friends.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Harry McClure on June 7, 2018, their son, Mark McClure on September 22, 1968 and ten brothers and sisters; Elizabeth (Bill), Ernest (Ruth), Joe (Helen), Howard, Harold, Marjorie (Harry), Irene (Ted), Mary Ann (Eugene), Betty and Don (Bonnie).

Survivors include their children, Karen (Ray) Warner of Dallas, Texas, Jeff (Missy) McClure of Overland Park, Kansas, Sharon (Junior) Covert of Topeka and Sara McClure of Topeka, nine grandchildren; Richard (Jamie), Kacy (Justin), Kyle, Luke (Jill), Joseph, Adam, Emma, Izzy and Ella and four great-grandchildren; Paisley, Rowan, Presley and Avery.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Graveside committal services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Washington Creek Cemetery in Lawrence, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Elara Caring Hospice, 901 NE River Rd Ste. 101, Topeka, Kansas 66616.
