Myrtle “Marie” Stringer (88), of Topeka, passed away on January 13, 2023.
She was born on November 13, 1934 in Hutchinson, Kansas to Ezra and Charlotte Schott. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters. Marie graduated from Hutchinson High School and attended Adela Hale Business College for a brief time. She married Nathan L. Stringer on June 13, 1954. He served in the United States Air Force for twenty years. He preceded her in death on March 24, 2012.
Marie is survived by two sons; Rodney “Rod” of Topeka, Randy (Debbie) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, two daughters; Rhonda Hendricks (Jeffery) of Topeka and Robin Elliot (James) of Oakland, Oregon, seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Marie worked for the Shawnee County District Court Office for twenty-four years. Being stationed in England led to their love to travel. This included two European Tours, trips to Japan, Israel, Argentina and four ocean cruises.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 1:00 pm, at First Church of the Nazarene, 1001 SW Buchanan. Internment will be at West Lawn Cemetery followed by a meal for all friends and family at the church. Memorial donations may be made to the church.
