Dorothy June Jackson, 76, of Topeka, passed away Monday, January 23, 2023.
She was born April 18, 1946, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Alta Raymond and Lena Louise (Turner) Carver. She graduated from Quenemo High School in 1964 and attended the Professional School of Cosmetology.
Dorothy worked at Lovely Lady Beauty Salon from 1972 to 1981 and the Hair Care Unit at Stormont-Vail Hospital (which she owned) from 1972 to 1981.
Ms. Jackson was a member of the Colly Creek Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Dorothy married Darrell “Shorty” Bass in November of 1964; they divorced in 1984. She then married Dennis Jackson in 1984; they later divorced in 1994. Survivors include her son Vaughn Bass of Indianapolis, Indiana; five grandchildren from her daughter Eva – Joshua of Pennsylvania, Nichole of New York, Joseph of Arkansas, Jamie of Arkansas and Heather of Arkansas; 13 great-grandchildren; and her sisters Alice Carver of Topeka and Lorie Kelly of Newark, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her daughter Eva Jean Bass-Woods and her other siblings.
Dorothy enjoyed crafts and working in her yard.
Dorothy was cremated. A memorial ceremony will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Colly Creek Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, 4230 SW Gage Boulevard, Topeka, KS 66610.
