Rod, If I could turn back the hands of time my friend. I met Rod and Joan for the first time back in November of 2009 I believe, and man was I nervous we all went to eat at The Blind tiger in Topeka. This would be the start of an awesome relationship with my wife Angela Bush Salazar and I. These are her grandparents and along with meeting Angela's mom (Candy) and dad (Mike) I knew they had an awesome family. Rod you were a great man and until we meet again rest easy my friend, rest easy!!!

Shoppop was a man of few words and lots of fun. Always up for one of our crazy adventures. He never raised his voice, yet you knew when he was disappointed in you. He loved everybody he met especially dogs. Shoppop was always going to be my first phone call if I ever got arrested (thank the good lord that never happened) as I knew he would never leave me there too long. He was a role model for my kids and I and I hope I can be half as amazing as he was. Shoppop you were the best grandfather a girl could ask for. Until we meet again!! We love you!!!!!

I was proud to be a member of Rod and Joan's family. I was accepted immediately as a member of the family. I was treated with love and respect. I couldn't have asked for a better family to join. One of my earliest memories was of Craig and Rod teaching me to ski. I had never really been in a boat or swimming in the lake. My family always went to the pool. I was very hesitant to get into the muddy lake water because I couldn't see what was in there with me. Rod was always patient with me . Craig stood in the cove to help me get my balance. Rod took off and I stayed squatted on the back of the ski like they told me to. Knees to my chest, elbows straight, bottom on the back of the ski. After riding around the cove in a most uncomfortable fashion I tossed the rope and waited for Rod to come around. I asked him, "When am I supposed to stand up?" He said, "Any time Darlin'". No one expected that I could get up on the first try. That was the first of many new and fun experiences with the Ramsey family. I loved being called his little Darlin' and will miss that and his smile and his wonderful sense of humor more than I can explain. He was kind and helpful. Funny and fun loving. He was liked by all who knew him, and he knew a lot of people. That says a lot about his character. He was a hard worker. Willing to try his hand at most anything. A true family man, and most everyone that knew him felt like family.

Dena and I are heartbroken to hear this sad news. ShopPop was a distant relative that I only had the opportunity to meet once or twice. He was a great man, a good friend, good father, grandfather and husband. We regret not getting to see him more often. Our condolences to Joan and the rest of his family.

Dear dear Joan and family,
What sweet memories I have of you all from the few years that I accompanied my dad to Wagonears' camping weekends and dinners or took his vehicles in to the shop for maintenance. Rod was always so pleasant and jovial and more than willing to allow me to take Sassy for walks at the campgrounds. Joan, I look forward to the next time I can get one of your good hugs. Mother and Daddy spoke so fondly of you two and your friendship through the years. May God bless you all as you move through this season of mourning and sharing memories and adjusting to changes.

To my forever friend, Joan and family.
I just heard of Rod's passing and want to offer my sincere condolences to you and all your wonderful family. In high school, Rod was so ornery and funny, and certainly grew up to be a great family man. He will certainly be missed by all your family, many, many friends and the community. Only God and time will ease your pain and the many good memories will last forever. I love you and hope to see you again. Sincerely Carol Fricke Sisco

My wife and I extend our deepest sympathies to the entire family.
May they find peace in the loss of their husband, father and grandfather.

What a gentle giant, not so much in stature, but a huge family man who loved everyone & treasured his family time & now enjoying Heaven!
Such great love for his son, coming in to help at the shop when "supposedly" retired!
I personally think he just loved spending time beside his son!
I do not remember meeting Candy, but I'm sure Mr Ramsey had the same loving relationship with her.
And his Grandkids, oh myyyy, such grand times, so many treasured memories for ALL!
And last but not least, married to a wonderful woman, Grammy Ramsey, sharing so much love with her, Everlasting Love!
I am sorry for every family member's pain, my heart is with you & I wish you all Peace.
Love
Julie

Remember the good days delivering to Ramsey auto and rod would always give me a bunch of guff and Joan would laugh pretty hard about it. Rod will be missed . My condolences Craig, Joan and family.

I have pleasant memories of Rod. I first met him in Richland back in 1951. He was always very nice to me, (I am a couple years younger than Rod), and
I appreciated that he always treated me as a good friend. In later years he had a Phillips 66 Station on California Avenue in Topeka that I spent much time with
Rod and Friends. We send our Condolences to Joan and the family.

I was so sorry to see that Mr. Ramsey had passed. It was a pleasure to know him and visit with him. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Rod was part of a core group of amazing men who worked to make General Tire incredibly successful. His work ethic, expertise, and positive attitude were respected and appreciated by his coworkers, and by my dad, Lyle Thompson. Dad spoke often and highly of Rod. From all the Thompson family, "Well done good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your Master." Matthew 25:21
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Rod's family during this difficult time.
Fondly,
Rodney and Susan (Thompson) Chilson

Shop Pop was such and amazing funny man! He was always so kind to everyone but he definitely had an ornery side to him. He was such a big part of Brad's life for a long time and we will miss him. Joan, Craig, Christy, Candy and Mike (and all of the grandkids) we are thinking of you all during this difficult time.
~ Brad and Kim Evans - May 8, 2023
To Aunt Joan and Family- condolences to you. Uncle Rod was a wonderful man. He was fun to be around. Always enjoyed the family times together. May you find peace and comfort in this very sad time. Love to all.
~ Nancy Shepard - May 8, 2023
I am so very sorry for your loss of such a wonderful guy. Over the years Wayne and I had the privilege of getting to know all of you at Ramsey's. Wayne just loved to stop by and either have a joke or two to share or he would listen to a few that he would bring home to tell. May friends and family and our Lord Jesus wrap his arms around you to get through this very difficult time. I still live in Florida or I would come to pay my respects. My prayers are with all of you. May God bless.
